IPL Photo Facials

The combined bi-polar radio frequency and light energies of the SRA elos technology precisely and safely target pigmented lesions such as freckles, sun spots and age spots. Vascular lesions such as spider vessels and redness from rosacea are also lightened and gradually fade. Cooling of the skin surface ensures additional safety during treatment. Most patients return to normal activities immediately after treatment. However we typically expect “sloughing” to occur for up to 7-10 days post treatment.

Freaquently Asked Questions

IPL Photofacial FAQ's

Q: What is an IPL Photofacial?

A: An IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Photofacial is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses light energy to target various skin imperfections such as sun damage, age spots, freckles, rosacea, and vascular lesions.

Q: How does IPL Photofacial work?

A: IPL Photofacial works by delivering intense pulses of light energy to the deeper layers of the skin. The light energy is absorbed by pigment-containing cells, which causes them to fragment. This process leads to a reduction in pigmentation and the appearance of blood vessels, resulting in clearer, more even-toned skin.

Q: What skin concerns can IPL Photofacial treat?

A: IPL Photofacial can effectively treat a range of skin concerns, including sun damage, age spots, freckles, rosacea, spider veins, broken capillaries, and uneven skin tone.

Q: Is IPL Photofacial suitable for all skin types?

A: IPL Photofacial is generally safe for most skin types, but it may not be suitable for individuals with very dark skin tones or active tans. Consulting with a qualified dermatologist or skincare professional is recommended to determine suitability.

Q: How many sessions of IPL Photofacial are typically needed?

A: The number of IPL Photofacial sessions needed varies depending on individual skin concerns and desired results. However, most people undergo a series of 6 treatments spaced about 4 weeks apart for the best results.  A touch-up every 6 months to 1 year may be desired after a series to maintain results.

Q: Is there any downtime associated with IPL Photofacial?

A: There is minimal downtime associated with IPL Photofacial. Some individuals may experience temporary redness, swelling, or darkening of pigmented spots immediately after treatment, but these side effects typically subside within a few hours to a few days.

Q: What precautions should be taken before and after IPL Photofacial treatment?

A: Before IPL Photofacial treatment, it's essential to avoid sun exposure and tanning beds and discontinue the use of certain skincare products, such as retinoids and exfoliants. After treatment, it's recommended to protect the skin with sunscreen and avoid excessive sun exposure to maintain results and prevent potential complications.

Q: Are there any potential side effects or risks associated with IPL Photofacial?

A: While IPL Photofacial is generally safe, some potential side effects may include temporary redness, swelling, bruising, blistering, changes in pigmentation, or rarely, scarring. These side effects are typically mild and resolve on their own.

Q: How long do the results of IPL Photofacial last?

A: The results of IPL Photofacial can vary depending on individual skin concerns, lifestyle factors, and skincare habits. With proper sun protection(SPF of 25 or higher) and skincare maintenance, results can last for several months to a year or more.
