Freaquently Asked Questions

Vein Therapy FAQ's

Q: How does laser vein therapy work?

A: Laser vein therapy works by using targeted laser energy to heat and close off problematic veins. This causes the vein to collapse and eventually fade away, redirecting blood flow to healthier veins.

Q: What types of veins can be treated with laser vein therapy?

A: Laser vein therapy is typically used to treat spider veins and other superficial vascular lesions.

Q: Is laser vein therapy painful?

A: Most patients report minimal discomfort during laser vein therapy. Local anesthesia may be used to numb the treatment area, and some patients may experience a slight burning or tingling sensation during the procedure.

Q: How long does a laser vein therapy session take?

A: The duration of a laser vein therapy session can vary depending on the size and number of veins being treated.

Q: Are there any side effects or risks associated with laser vein therapy?

A: While laser vein therapy is considered safe, some potential side effects may include temporary redness, bruising, swelling, or skin discoloration at the treatment site.

Q: How many sessions of laser vein therapy are typically needed?

A: The number of sessions needed varies depending on the severity of the vein condition and individual patient response. In many cases, multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart may be required to achieve optimal results.

Q: Is there any downtime after laser vein therapy?

A: Most patients can resume normal activities immediately after laser vein therapy, although strenuous exercise and prolonged standing may be advised to avoid for a short period. Compression stockings may be recommended to aid in recovery.

Q: How long do the results of laser vein therapy last?

A: While laser vein therapy can effectively treat existing spider veins and other superficial vascular lesions, it does not prevent the development of new ones. However, with proper care and maintenance, results can be long-lasting.

Q: Who is a suitable candidate for laser vein therapy?

A: Suitable candidates for laser vein therapy are typically individuals with spider veins or other superficial vascular lesions who are in good overall health.
